Our Favorite French Toast Recipe!

This recipe has quickly become a breakfast favorite in our home! And the most surprising positive review came from my husband, who isn’t even a fan of french toast, in general! He loved it! It could have had something to do with the added bacon (wink, wink) but I like to think that I just converted him with my awesome skills! So, from our home to yours, we hope you enjoy our Favorite French Toast Recipe! Blessings!

Ingredients

  • 1 Loaf Fresh French Bread (Not Pre-Sliced)
  • 4 Eggs, Beaten
  • 4 Tablespoons Butter, Melted
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Vanilla Extract
  • 1/4 Cup Milk
  • 2 Tablespoons Sugar
  • 1 Teaspoon Ground Cinnamon
  • 1/4 Teaspoon Ground Nutmeg
  • Toppings: Maple Syrup, Bacon, Strawberries, Blueberries, Whipped Cream

Recipe Instructions

Start out by slicing all of your French bread into moderately thick slices. You want the slices slightly thicker than store-bought bread and roughly double the thickness of pre-sliced French bread at the grocery store. The fresh French bread, cut in thick slices, makes all the difference in the world with this recipe!

The rest is fairly easy – Combine your eggs, butter, vanilla extract, milk, sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg in a shallow, small baking dish or a glass pie plate and whisk them all together until any clumps have been removed. Dip each side of the bread into the mixture and place in a greased frying pan over medium-high heat. Turn them regularly to make sure that they cook evenly. When both sides are evenly cooked and golden brown, remove and serve with your toppings! Simple, easy, and so tasty! We hope you enjoy!!
