Two-Minute Thoughts on Faith: Feed Your Belly & Feed Your Spirit This Holiday Season!

Video Transcription Can Be Found Below.

VIDEO TRANSCRIPT: Hi, everybody! Shannon here with Raising a Blessing Blog and today as we roll into the holiday season, (we’re only two days away from Thanksgiving) we’re going to talk about the spiritual food that we are consuming as we gather together with our friends for friendsgiving or with our family for more traditional Thanksgiving.

We’re going to talk about how important the spiritual food is that we are consuming.

You know, Jesus said, that the most important commandment was to love Him and to love others.

And I know that as we roll into this Thanksgiving season, sometimes it’s challenging to be intentional with our thoughts and with our words and to really focus on making sure that they honor God and they honor others.

And, you know I think it’s really, really important that we take just a pause here, just for a moment, to really focus on how, you know, just as we’re eating all this incredible food that is filling our bellies and fueling our body, we are simultaneously filling our spirit with spiritual food.

We are consuming spiritual food because, as I mentioned in my book, the headbone is connected to the heartbone, and the thoughts that we’re having and the conversations that we’re having, they are just as much (or more important) than the food that we are filling our bellies with because they are fueling our spirit.

They are feeding our spirit.

And it’s so important to be intentional with them.

So, as you’re sitting and you’re gathering with all these friends or family members, I want you guys to think about all the thoughts and conversations that you’re having.

Are they kind?

Are they loving?

Are they grace-filled?

Are they honoring to God?

Are they honoring to others?

Are they honoring to me?

Because one of the one of the things that tends to happen to us when we gather with a big group is that we start allowing the enemy to wrap labels around us again.

You know, it’s very easy to think about “Oh, what are they thinking of me? They must all be talking about this mistake I made this year or what a year I bombed at. Or, maybe I gained weight this year. Oh my gosh, everybody must be looking at me and they’re judging.”

Because as women, you know a lot of times we focus on that, and the enemy very quickly uses those thoughts to wrap up our spirit.

Because that is spiritual food.

And that is why I want to go back to Proverbs 4:21 and read it to you.

And this is from The Passion Translation. I’m reading out of my book, A Time To Dance: Chasing Joy In Difficult Seasons.

It says, “Fill your thoughts with my words until they penetrate deep into your spirit. Then as you unwrap my words, they will impart true life and radiant health into the very core of your being.”

And that’s Proverbs 4: 21-22.

So, as you are sitting, and as you are enjoying all this amazing food, remember to fill your thoughts, feed your spirit, with God’s words.

And what does He say about you?

He says you are beautiful, loved, incredible, whole, redeemed, irreplaceable.

You are His daughter and He loves you more than anything.

So, I hope you guys have an incredible holiday season.

I hope you have safe travels and just amazing food and an amazing time with friends and family.

And I hope that you remember, as you feed your bellies and you feed your bodies with all this incredible food, to be intentional about what you’re feeding your spirit with this holiday season.

And remember… always remember… if you can’t be intentional in that moment, it’s okay to take a break – to step away and to take a moment with yourself and just pray that God fill your spirit with discernment, with peace, and with His love and His joy.

And He will always be faithful to provide everywhere that you need.

So, you guys have a very safe and happy holiday season and we will see you soon.

Bye!
